Have you missed out?
Are you entitled to the Education Tax Refund (ETR)? Data has shown that 1 in 5 eligible children and their families missed out on the benefits of the ETR because their parents were unaware they were able to make a claim in their tax return or did not keep receipts.
Additional expenses have been added to the list of claimable items from July 1 of this year including school uniform expenses and if your family is entitled to Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A, you are eligible for the ETR at a rate of 50% of your eligible expenses up to a offset of $397 for each primary school student and $794 for each secondary student. You can check your eligibility for FTB Part A at the Centrelink Family Tax Benefit webpage.
We understand the high cost of raising your children and therefore encourage you to be aware of what expenses are claimable through the ETR and then keep your receipts so you are able to substantiate your claim in your tax return.
